High School Redesign Update

The Indiana State Board of Education (SBOE) is poised to vote on a high school redesign initiative on Wednesday, December 11, which will introduce a new diploma structure beginning with the Class of 2029 (current 8th graders). The redesigned model will feature a single diploma with the option to earn up to six Readiness Seals, including Honors and Honors Plus distinctions, which align with key post-secondary pathways: Enrollment, Employment, and Enlistment. While earning Readiness Seals is optional and not required for graduation, students who opt not to pursue these seals must still fulfill existing graduation pathway requirements. This redesign aims to streamline graduation criteria while providing flexibility and enhanced recognition of student readiness for life beyond high school.

Academic Transition Night

Zionsville Community High School will host its 8th to 9th Grade Academic Transition Night on January 15, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This event is designed to support Class of 2029 students and their families as they transition to high school.

Attendees will participate in a general session to learn about the new diploma requirements, engage with counselors, teachers, and current students, and explore all academic content areas. Additional opportunities include a guided tour of the school building and breakout sessions focusing on special programming. Further details will be shared in upcoming newsletters to ensure families are well-prepared for this important evening.

Financial Update

The meeting included two key financial updates. Teacher Appreciation Grants (TAG) will be distributed on December 13, 2024, in accordance with board policy, recognizing and rewarding educators for their contributions.

Additionally, the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) has approved an Operations Levy Appeal on December 3, 2024, totaling $886,915 per budget year. These updates reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting both teachers and operational sustainability.
