For 42 years, EagleFest has celebrated the connection between Zionsville Community Schools and the community. There are some traditions that become part of the rhythm of a community.
For 42 years, EagleFest has been one of them.
Generations of families have made their way to Jennings Field. Children who once came to EagleFest as students now return as parents. Teachers greet current students and former ones. Neighbors take time to talk. Friends find one another in the crowd. School groups perform. Community organizations and local businesses fill the field.
The details have changed over four decades, but the feeling has not.
More Than a Tradition
Look across Jennings Field during EagleFest, it is easy to see the activities, the food, the music, the performances, and the energy of a new school year.
Look a little closer, though, and there is something else.
Connection
It is in the conversations happening in a relaxed yet spirited space. Students finding teachers they recognize, staff members catching up with former families, community partners who return year after year, and grandparents, graduates, neighbors, and families who simply want to join the fun.
It is a reminder that a school community is built far beyond classroom walls. For 42 years, EagleFest has given us a place to see that connection all at once.

The Spirit of a Tradition
The community has grown. Our schools have grown. Thousands of students have crossed ZCS stages and gone on to build lives and communities of their own.
But there is a spirit here that generations continue to share.
It is pride in the schools our children attend. It is gratitude for the people who teach, coach, lead, volunteer, and support them.
It is the willingness of businesses, organizations, families, and neighbors to invest in young people, whether or not they currently have a child in Zionsville Community Schools.
And it is the understanding that strong schools and strong communities do not exist separately.
They strengthen one another.
EagleFest may be one evening on the calendar, but what fills Jennings Field each year represents something that happens throughout this community every day and builds across the years.
People caring about kids. People believing in schools. People investing in one another.
42 Years, Countless Stories
Somewhere in the EagleFest photos from decades ago are children who are now adults.
Some became ZCS parents. Some became teachers. Some became coaches, volunteers, business owners, and community leaders. Some moved away and still remember what it felt like to grow up an Eagle.
Another generation is making those memories now.
They are the children running across Jennings Field. Students laughing with friends. Young musicians, athletes, and performers representing their schools. The teenagers surrounded by friends on a Friday night.
They may not know yet that they are part of a 42-year tradition, but someday, they will.
Heading to the Stadium
After EagleFest, families, students, staff, and community members make their way from Jennings Field to the stadium for the first home football game of the season.
Soon, the bleachers are packed. The student section is full. People line the railings and gather in standing-room-only spaces. The band plays. Cheerleaders cheer. Athletes take the field. Families and neighbors fill the stands. It is another picture of the same thing.
Support.
The thousands of people gathered are there for a football game, but the scene represents something much bigger than football. It is a community gathering around its young people. Around the schools. Around one another.
From a field filled with families at EagleFest to a stadium filled with Eagle fans, the entire evening tells one powerful story.

Maybe that is what makes EagleFest endure. It is not simply something we attend, rather it is something we share.
For one evening, students, staff, families, alumni, businesses, organizations, and neighbors gather in one place, and “school” and “community” intersect.
Here, they have always been connected.
Forty-two years of laughter and conversations. Forty-two years of students growing up. Forty-two years of families returning. Forty-two years of Friday nights and Eagle pride. Forty-two years of community.
