Winter
is moving in!

A quick guide to staying ready for the season

Winter has officially arrived this week, snowflakes and all. As temperatures drop and the forecast shifts, this is a great time to make sure your family’s winter routine is ready too. Please keep an eye on local news, ZCS social media, our website, and ParentSquare for the latest updates on weather conditions and any school schedule changes.

ZCS monitors the forecast closely and makes decisions as early as possible using the best information available. Our teams are on the roads early, and we work alongside our local highway departments, INDOT, and campus staff to understand conditions across our community.

Because buses begin rolling by 6:15 a.m., we aim to communicate between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. when widespread conditions are not safe for transporting students. When a decision is made, we will share it through multiple channels, including ParentSquare, social media, local television stations, and our website.

Whatever the plan for the day, families always have the final say. We respect that each household may experience different weather and road conditions and may use their discretion in determining whether to send children to school or events during inclement weather.

Please review your family’s plan with your child so they know what to expect if an early dismissal becomes necessary this winter. Weather can be unpredictable, and adjustments sometimes must be made quickly.

Stay warm, stay attentive, and welcome to winter in Zionsville Community Schools.

A Season of Sound
at ZCHS

Band and Orchestra take the stage as United Sound musicians gather for a rehearsal.

It's been a full season of music at Zionsville Community High School as student musicians across Band, Orchestra, and United Sound filled the building with energy, talent, and connection.

The Orchestra presented a beautiful concert that showcased rich tones, expressive playing, and the strong artistry across all sections. The Band had a dynamic performance of its own, filling the Performing Arts Center with sound, precision, and moments that highlighted musical talent.

Between these performances, United Sound musicians gathered for a rehearsal. This inclusive program pairs peer mentors with students of all abilities, creating opportunities to learn side by side and celebrate music together. Although not a performance week for United Sound, the rehearsal reflected everything the program stands for: belonging, growth, and joy.

Together, these musical experiences captured the heart of the ZCHS performing arts community. From the stage to the rehearsal room, students supported one another, shared their talents, and reminded us that music is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together.

Exciting News!

The 2025 "Now You Know" Aerie has been named a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown Finalist. Aerie is the only Indiana yearbook selected and one of just 49 yearbooks recognized nationwide. This marks the first time a ZCHS publication has earned this national honor. The Aerie staff will learn whether they’ve received a Gold or Silver Crown during the CSPA annual convention in March 2026.
