ZCHS A Night of One Acts
Takes the Stage
Student-written, student-directed, student-produced theater shines at ZCHS
ZCHS Drama Club’s annual A Night of One Acts returned to the stage with three original short plays created entirely by students. From script to spotlight, students took the lead in writing, directing, acting, and producing each performance, showcasing creativity, collaboration, and confidence in the performing arts. The evening highlighted the power of student voice and the behind-the-scenes teamwork that brings theater to life, offering audiences a memorable night of storytelling created by students for the community.

Fourth Graders
Take their First Step to Middle School
Elementary students visit middle schools to begin the fourth-grade transition
Fourth-grade students visited Zionsville Middle School and Zionsville West Middle School for their first step in the transition to fifth-grade. Students enjoyed performances from the band, orchestra, and choir at both schools, giving future students a glimpse into the opportunities that await them.
The step-up experience helps ensure students feel prepared, welcomed, and ready for the next chapter in their ZCS journey.

Fifth Graders
Become Medical Detectives
Project Lead the Way (PLTW) students apply learning through hands-on Clinic Days
Fifth-grade students in the PLTW Medical Detectives unit are putting their learning into action through upcoming Clinic Days. After studying bacteria, fungi, and viruses, and how these disease agents spread and impact the human body, students are stepping into the roles of healthcare professionals to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
During Clinic Day, students will create and run their own clinics, welcoming “patients” as they practice diagnosing symptoms, asking questions, and explaining disease transmission and prevention. The hands-on experience brings science and problem-solving together while helping students build communication and critical-thinking skills. Experiences like this continue to make learning engaging, collaborative, and relevant across Zionsville Community Schools.

A Day to Play
and Imagine
Global Play Day celebrates creativity and child-led learning across classrooms
Elementary classrooms across Zionsville Community Schools joined schools around the world in celebrating Global Play Day, a time dedicated to unstructured, child-led play. For the day, traditional lessons paused as students explored, imagined, built, created, and connected through a variety of hands-on activities. From board games and art stations to building materials and collaborative challenges, the focus shifted to creativity, problem-solving, and social interaction.
Global Play Day highlights the important role play has in supporting student development. The experience serves as a reminder that curiosity, joy, and connection are essential parts of the learning process, and that meaningful learning often happens when students are given the space to explore and create together.
