Character matters.
THE FRIDAY FIVE
2025
This week’s Friday Five brings you another round-up of recent highlights worth celebrating. This is spring in Zionsville Community Schools.
1.
Celebrating character and leadership
ZCHS and the Rotary Club of Zionsville celebrate seniors who embody the Strong in Every Way ideals
The Rotary Club of Zionsville celebrated 20 outstanding Zionsville Community High School (ZCHS) seniors at a breakfast recognition event. These students were nominated by ZCHS teachers for exemplifying the ZCS Strong in Every Way ideals including compassion, confidence, ethics, wellness and determination as well as the guiding principles of the Rotary Four-Way Test.
2.
Standout senior scholars and athletes
Celebrating academic and athletic excellence
Zionsville Community High School (ZCHS) celebrated seniors who have earned a place in the top 15–30% of their class by maintaining a GPA between 4.0 and 4.21. The event also honored recipients of the Eagle Award, student-athletes who achieved a 4.0–4.21 GPA and earned a varsity letter during the school year. Each honoree received a certificate and refreshments were served.
3.
Teachers of the Year
Celebrating excellence in education
Congratulations to ZCS Teachers of the Year. The District Teacher of the Year will be named on May 12.
We are proud to introduce the 2025 ZCS Teachers of the Year, all exceptional educators who go above and beyond to inspire, connect and lead in our school communities.
Over the next three weeks in the Friday Five, we’ll spotlight these outstanding individuals, starting with our elementary school honorees (in alphabetical order). Join us in celebrating the heart of ZCS, our teachers!
Congratulations!

"It is the greatest honor to be nominated for teacher of the year. Boone Meadow, our team here, is so unbelievably incredible, and I have said every year I have no idea how this decision can be made because every person in this building deserves to be the teacher of the year in my eyes."

"I am so honored to be the teacher that they thought would be the best person to represent Eagle Elementary. I am who I am as a teacher because of the people I work with. And I feel like I've learned so much from my peers and my colleagues. I wouldn't be who I am as an educator without them."
LAURIE
WANSER
"We're partners in every way, shape, and form: from academic needs to social needs to physical needs to the emotional needs that kids have. I feel like they know that the gym is an open door throughout the day, and if a student needs something, I will absorb them into my class. We build a community together."

Innovation takes center stage
Real-world thinking meets student creativity in ZCHS pitch competition
ZCHS students recently stepped into the spotlight during a Shark Tank-style pitch event, presenting original business and product ideas to a panel of local professionals. From creative solutions to real-world challenges to bold entrepreneurial visions, students demonstrated critical thinking, communication and innovation. This experience gave future change-makers a platform to develop and refine their ideas in a real-world setting.
5.
A closer look at learning
Eagle Ambassador Academy session highlights ZCS’s commitment to engaging every student in meaningful learning
This month’s Eagle Ambassador Academy session focused on curriculum, instruction, the Customized Learning Program and how Zionsville Community Schools personalizes learning to meet the needs of every student. Held at Zionsville West Middle School (ZWMS), the session featured insights from ZWMS Principal Dr. Shawn Wooden, who shared how educators design engaging and student-centered learning experiences. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, explore curriculum strategies and gain a deeper understanding of how ZCS supports academic growth for all learners.
