Orchestra
Tribute

Orchestra students from across the district recently came together for a special performance, “Crismorchestra,” honoring retired Zionsville West Middle School (ZWMS) teacher Jim Crismore. Shortly after retiring, Mr. Crismore began cancer treatment, and this heartfelt concert served as a powerful way for students and teachers to express their love and gratitude through a language he knows best: music. The event was a touching tribute to a teacher who has left an indelible mark on the students and staff of Zionsville Community Schools.

Celebrating Our Bus Drivers: A Sweet Thank You
This week, bus drivers received a sweet treat as a token of appreciation for their work. Donuts were waiting to greet them as they returned from their morning routes—a small gesture to recognize the big role they play.
Bus drivers are the first and last point of connection for many students each day, traveling many miles to ensure safe and reliable transportation to school. With winter just around the corner, it's a perfect time to celebrate these drivers who are always prepared for weather challenges while keeping safety a top priority. Thank you to our bus drivers for all you do!

PVE
Quilt Visit

Representatives from the Benjamin Harrison House met with our fourth grade students this week. Using a quilt designed like a pioneer town, our students learned about the important people and jobs our Indiana pioneers needed.

Students in Grace Fletcher’s sculpture class recently unveiled their creativity in the school’s Wearable Art Show.
The event featured unique, student-designed pieces that reflected their individuality and artistic expression. Guided by their creativity, students transformed their ideas into stunning wearable works of art, making the debut show a memorable celebration of imagination and talent.

Greek and Roman Day
ZWMS 6th graders embarked on an unforgettable journey through ancient history during their thrilling annual Greek and Roman Day. Dressed in togas, students transformed into Greek citizens and experienced exciting hands-on activities. In science, they built their own catapults that shot marshmallows. While in math, they tackled Roman numerals with enthusiasm. The day was filled with flavorful Greek-inspired dishes, giving students a taste of the ancient world.
Bonjour!
Students in the French 1 classes simulated “un marché français” or a French market with specialty shops (les petites commerces). In France, it is common for people to do their shopping at indoor and outdoor local markets. They visit shops or stands with specialty products (meats, cheeses and dairy products, breads and baked goods, seafood, produce, etc.).
Student groups created their own specialty shops. They had to create a storefront/stand and have items available to “sell,” ranging from real food items to artificial foods to paper cut-outs. They “set up shop” in the upstairs science lab that was transformed into a “marché à l’intérieur.” Each student was given a twenty-euro bill and was encouraged to circulate through the market to view, taste, and purchase goods.
