Students at Zionsville Middle School hit the ground running!
Classrooms are buzzing, hallways are moving, and routines are returning. Students across Zionsville Community Schools are back and ready for spring semester. From new units and creative projects to performances, competitions, and end-of-year milestones, the months ahead will be filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate together. We’re glad to have students back and can’t wait to see what this semester brings.

A Cozy
Start to Reading
Stonegate Elementary School second graders launch their Wit & Wisdom unit with a book tasting café
Stonegate second grade classrooms were transformed into a cozy Wit & Wisdom café, turning reading time into a fun and engaging book-tasting experience. Students sampled a variety of books they’ll explore this quarter while previewing covers, flipping through pages, and sharing first impressions with classmates. A small snack added to the authentic café feel, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere that sparked curiosity and excitement for the learning ahead. The café was a memorable and meaningful way to kick off the new Wit & Wisdom unit.

A Look
Back
We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution simulated Congressional Hearings at Zionsville West Middle School
Before winter break, students took part in an experience worth revisiting. Through the “We the People…The Citizen and the Constitution” simulated Congressional Hearings, Zionsville West Middle School students stepped into the role of constitutional scholars, analyzing principles, defending viewpoints, and responding to questions with confidence and depth. The experience brought civic learning to life and showcased students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and voice. This was a moment we’re excited to reflect on as we head into spring semester.

Still
Worth Celebrating
A look back at Union Elementary School's third grade Bookworm Party
Just before winter break, Union Elementary third graders celebrated thousands of hours of reading with their annual Bookworm Party, and it’s a moment worth revisiting. Throughout the first semester, students journeyed from the depths of the ocean to outer space, tackling challenging vocabulary, gathering evidence to support their thinking, and building a love of reading along the way.
The day-long celebration brought together special guest readers, the Union PTO, the Union Dad’s Club, and third grade teachers to honor students’ hard work. Highlights included a first-ever reading by Mrs. Kay from a book she wrote and illustrated just for the event, a surprise visit from Officer Robinson’s “twin” brother, and a special reading from Dr. Coffman about what snowmen do at night. Students wrapped up the celebration with a visit to the Union Bookworm Store, filled with books, magazines, and prizes. The event was a joyful reminder of the power of reading and all they accomplished together.
