1.
ZMS Science Steps Into the Stream

ZMS sixth-grade students take their study of freshwater ecosystems into the field at Starkey Park.

Sixth-grade science students traded the classroom for the creek during a recent trip to Starkey Park, where they took their study of freshwater ecosystems into the field.

Students stepped into the creek to collect data and observe the ecosystem firsthand. They measured dissolved oxygen levels, total dissolved solids and turbidity while examining how biotic and abiotic factors work together to create a functioning ecosystem.

It was hands-on science, giving students the opportunity to apply what they have been learning in class to the natural world around them.

2.
Voices Fill the Stage at ZCHS

ZCHS choir students share an evening of music during the Fall Choir Concert.

Zionsville Community High School choir students took the stage for their Fall Choir Concert, filling the evening with music and showcasing the work they have been doing since the start of the school year.

The concert gave student musicians the opportunity to share their talents with family, friends, and the ZCS community.

It was a beautiful fall evening of music and a celebration of our student artists!

3.
Learning to Stay Safe

Union Elementary School students welcome local first responders for an important lesson in fire safety.

The Zionsville Fire Department and EMS visited Union Elementary School recently to help preschool through second-grade students learn about fire safety.

Students had the opportunity to meet local first responders while learning important, age-appropriate lessons about staying safe and what to do in an emergency.

This is a great example of community partners helping our youngest students learn skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

4.
Literacy Learning at Trailside

Families connect with teachers and learn practical ways to support literacy learning at home.

Parents and guardians attended Parent Literacy Night at Trailside Elementary School for an evening designed to strengthen the connection between literacy learning at school and support at home.

Families participated in sessions focused on literacy learning in grades K–2 and 3–4, then connected with teachers at “Ask the Experts” booths to ask questions, explore resources, and take home practical tools and ideas.

The evening created time for helping families better understand what their children are learning and how they can support that learning at home.

Understanding School Finance

ZCS expertise helps bring a complex topic to life for communities across Indiana

There’s a new resource available to help make the sometimes-complex world of school finance a little easier to understand.

ZCS Chief Financial Officer Regina May, SFO, contributed her expertise to a statewide school finance video created in partnership with the Central Indiana Education Services Center (CIESC), Indiana School Public Relations Association (INDSPRA) and Indiana Association of School Business Officials (IASBO).

Mrs. May joined school finance and communications professionals from across Indiana in helping develop a resource designed to explain how public schools are funded and why understanding school finance matters.

We are proud to see our CFO's knowledge and expertise contributing not only to ZCS, but to a resource that can help families and communities across the state better understand public education funding.

School finance can be complicated. Take a few minutes to watch the video and learn more.
