We
the People

Zionsville West Middle School students participated in We the People this week. This learning experience provides students with a civic education that fosters a deeper understanding of our nation. Students learn about the constitutional framework while preparing to be informed, active citizens in our society.

Students engaged in mock congressional hearings while teachers, administrators and community members offered support and feedback.

Indiana
T-shirts

Fourth graders across the district designed t-shirts to celebrate Indiana's birthday as they continue studying Indiana history.

Board
meeting

In the December board meeting, ZCS Superintendent Dr. Rebecca Coffman provided the 2023-2024 Class Size and Enrollment Update. Each year there is a comprehensive overview of our current enrollment status, growth trends and classroom size targets. Reviewing this information annually helps us to make informed decisions that enhance the overall educational experience for our students.

In old business, ZCS Superintendent Dr. Rebecca Coffman presented a second reading of Policy 2520: Selection/Removal of School Library Materials.

In new business, the following items were also approved:

*Kris Barksdale's re-appointment to the Zionsville Parks Board

*Christine Squier's re-appointment to the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library Board

*Participation in PERF for select employee groups

*Compensation increases for non-bargaining unit employees, including the superintendent

*Resolution to approve property purchase

*ZCHS varsity gym bleacher replacement

*ZCHS elevator modernization project

*ZWMS gym floor repair and resurfacing

*875 tennis court surface repair

*1:1 devices for middle schools

The next school board meeting will be held January 8, 2024 in the Educational Services Center at 900 Mulberry Street, Zionsville.

Mark your calendars!

Mark your calendars for the seventh annual ZCS Do-Days, taking place from March 7th to March 9th, 2024. Students and staff district-wide will be actively engaged in various service projects.

Help us extend the invitation to organizations in need of support during these dates. Additionally, consider the service projects your family and child would like to be a part of as we all come together to give back to our community.

As we prepare for ZCHS Principal Tim East's upcoming retirement, ZCS Superintendent Dr. Coffman has outlined the process and timeline for selecting the next ZCHS Principal and extended an invitation to families, students, and community members to actively participate in the process by providing input through a survey.

Anyone interested in contributing feedback on what they believe to be critical for the future of ZCHS is encouraged to submit the form via the QR code provided below.
