THE FRIDAY FIVE FOR APRIL 2, 2021
Hello, ZCS Nation -- Is anyone home? Here’s the Friday Five for today.

SPRING BREAK

I know that a great many of you are in the car or at the airport or already at your destination (if you get a break for the coming week). But I bet you still have your cell phone to catch our brief Friday Five! Please do operate safely during this break in light of the now increasing infection rate.

CoVID-19

Speaking of numbers, ours did climb this week. We were at 241 restricted from entry on school campuses yesterday. There were 12 CoVID-19 positives from among our school family with 11 of those being students.

Our new elementary school should have a name in a week or so. Waves of questions about redistricting continue to swirl from time to time. The process will begin after we have our enrollment info and a fresh demographic study late next fall. We’ll share prospective enrollment boundary models in the winter and seek board approval in the spring. Unfortunately, there is no way to indicate with certainty which addresses may end up with a school or feeder pattern change. Of course our efforts will be to move the fewest students possible and still install a boundary solution that can forestall additional redistricting for the longest possible time.

ZCHS INDOOR PERCUSSION
Did you see our splash about the amazing state championship by ZCHS Indoor Percussion last weekend? Check out THIS CELEBRATION! PLEASE NOTE! ZCS WINTER GUARD’s artful performers will compete at the state level on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at approximately 6:00PM – Center Grove High School. GO MIGHTY EAGLES!!!

MASKS

I’ve taken on a bit of water about masks this week, and I wanted to ensure that we all know ZCS will continue to require masks for the balance of the school year. Governor Holcomb was clear about this in his recent press conferences regarding Indiana’s easing of pandemic restrictions.

Donations and fun with cereal boxes!

Be in suspense about the video shot at Stonegate yesterday. Wait for it! Family donations of cereal for those in need made someone think of setting them all up in the halls to make a giant domino run. And they did. And it was FANTASTIC. Very fun stuff falling right in line with that school family’s generosity.
Again, be safe during our spring break closure of schools. Thanks for using our screener each day when school resumes. Happy spring!!!
Sincerely,

Scott Robison, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools
