SCHOOL BOARD
MEETING

April 2024

Multiple ZCS Robotics teams compete at state; ZCHS team headed to Worlds in Dallas, Texas

ZCS ROBOTICS

Representatives from the elementary, middle, and high school coaching staffs shared about the ZCS K12 Robotics Program. Each coach shared about their respective programs. Additionally, three high school students talked about their individual and team experiences in robotics.

While the program is competitive with teams claiming tournament victories and a variety of judged awards, its primary focus remains on the educational experience.

Coaches explained that while building and driving robots are key positions within the team, there are additional skills and functions that help students going to college or entering the workforce.

The K12 robotics programs have experienced incredible growth with record-high participation during the 2023-2024 season. The elementary schools had 19 teams this season, while the middle schools collectively fielded 17 teams and the high school had six teams who participated in 12 tournaments throughout this season.

Multiple teams represented ZCS at the state championship tournament, with one team qualified for the upcoming VEX Robotics World Competition in Dallas, Texas.

Thank you to the coaches and students who attended the board meeting.
