1028 PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION

A public hearing regarding 2023-2024 district-wide long-term projects including facility improvements/equipment and vehicle/bus acquisition was conducted.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Skillman Corporation Vice President Victor Landfair updated school board members on the progress of district construction projects including Zionsville Community High School (ZCHS) additions/renovations, the new Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium and summer projects.
Mr. Landfair reported that 96% of the ZCHS addition/renovation project is completed. He said that construction is in the final phases of a six-phase process.
Construction on the Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium is also on schedule. Ninety-nine percent of the work has been completed.

ACADEMIC UPDATE
Student Growth
Assistant Superintendent Kris Devereaux provided an academic update focusing on student growth. She talked about multiple ways the district identifies students' instructional needs and measures student progress. ZCS data again reveals that students in Zionsville Community Schools are among the best and brightest in the state of Indiana. Consistently ranked as a top performing school district, our students evidenced that solid instruction, top teaching talent, and strong school/family partnerships lead the way to academic success.

Nine-hundred and twenty students took an Advanced Placement (AP) exam for a total of 1,892 exams completed.

ZCS ENROLLMENT KEEPS GROWING!
Dr. Coffman reported about the district's continued enrollment growth. She said that in August of 2022, the district had 7,856 students enrolled PK-12. During that same timeframe (August 2023), Dr. Coffman reported that presently there are 8,002 students enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year.

MEALS
Superintendent Dr. Rebecca Coffman reported that the ZCS Food Service Team served more than 3,200 lunchtime meals on the first day of school.

COLLABORATION
Collaboration is a key component to academic success. Students began working and collaborating on day one.

SAFE TRANSPORT
ZCS bus drivers safely transported students to and from school this week. Drives complete about 2,500 miles per day combined while driving routes.

NEW EAGLE AMBASSADOR ACADEMY
Applications for the inaugural class of the 2023 Eagle Ambassador Academy are available. The deadline to apply is August 25.
The Eagle Ambassador Academy is a program designed to take you inside Zionsville Community Schools to gain in-depth knowledge of how the school system operates. Through this new series of interactive sessions, you will gain a better understanding of what makes Zionsville Community Schools one of the top performing public school districts in the state of Indiana.
NEW BUSINESS
In new business:
- As is required annually, Chief Financial Officer Regina May presented the ECA reports.
- Board members voted to donate $10,000 to the Zionsville Education Foundation (ZEF) via the extended services fund.
- Director of Academic Services Christine Squier submitted the results of the 2022-23 Zionsville Teacher Evaluation Finalization and the 2023-24 Zionsville Teacher Evaluation Plan (ZTEP) to the ZCS Board of Trustees for approval. The 2022-23 finalization report revealed that more than 99 percent of ZCS teachers are highly effective or effective.
- The Teacher Appreciation Grant Policy was approved.
- Kitchen and grounds equipment purchases were authorized.
The next regular monthly board meeting is scheduled for September 11th at 6 p.m. in the Educational Services Center, 900 Mulberry Street.
