Zionsville Community High School (ZCHS) Principal Tim East addressed the board about the affiliation opportunities that exist at the high school. He highlighted activities such as the recent club fair where 77 of the 96 clubs were represented. Mr. East emphasized that extra-curricular activities are designed to help students find a place to be connected to their high school. He said club participation creates opportunities for students to gather and gain leadership skills, budgeting and time management skills--and gain from the sharing of common interests for why their club or activity convened in the first place.
Mr. East reminded the board that this week is Homecoming week and students are celebrating theme days and planning Homecoming festivities for the weekend. He highlighted the performing arts and sports teams and their ongoing involvement in community events and competitions.
Mr. East offered a special thank you to all of the group volunteers and families who make these opportunities possible for our students. At the same time, he thanked the ZCHS faculty and talked about the affiliations students have with school leaders and the occasional crisis support that relationships with faculty, counselors, social workers, and campus leaders offer students beyond the classroom walls extending before and after the school day.
ZCS remains grateful for the high level of cooperative effort involving local public safety professionals. This serves well our many needs in keeping students and staff safe when crises arise.
Mr. East reminded board members about the Report It safety tool and strongly encouraged its continued use, ongoing communication and support among students, parents, school employees, and public safety professionals.
