ZCS celebratesYouth Art Month

Youth Art Month (YAM) is observed annually each March as a way to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. Established in 1961, Youth Art Month provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts that are not possible in other subjects offered in the curriculum.

Zionsville Community Schools (ZCS) will again join schools around the state in appreciating and celebrating student artists. This year, Pleasant View Elementary School Art Teacher Scott Miller was invited to open Indiana's celebration of Youth Art Month at the Indiana Statehouse. Many Hoosier students, including some of our own ZCS students, have artwork on display in the Statehouse. Additionally, many of our students have work on display around our community.

In celebration of Youth Art Month, the ZCS Fine Arts Department has once again teamed up with more than 30 local merchants to display student artwork during the month of March.  Students in grades K-12 have artwork displayed at various locations around the community.

Artworks will be displayed until the end of March.
