STAR Bank Classes
STAR Financial Bank hosted several ZCHS Entrepreneurship classes this week. Branch Manager Erin Wethington spoke to students about business banking and explained the benefits of working with a local, community bank. Another business class joined the STAR student interns in a job shadowing workshop allowing students to speak with Tracy Hanlin, STAR's Enterprise Risk Officer, about the importance of Banking regulations and how vital it is to mitigate risk for consumers and the bank as a whole.
Thank you to partner STAR Bank for providing ZCHS students with real-life learning experiences.

Hello winter!
We saw the season's first snowfall last weekend. While just a dusting, the snow was a reminder that winter weather is upon us. We know that in any snow event there is the potential of a school delay or closure if it is unsafe for buses to transport students.
When the school schedule is impacted by inclement weather or any other unexpected event, you will be notified through ParentSquare via text, email and phone call. Information will also be posted on the district website, social media, and local television stations.
After a general district-wide notification from the superintendent, you will receive more detailed information from your school principal. Please familiarize yourself with the district's winter weather delay and closure protocol that can be found here.
This year we are using ParentSquare as our new notification/communication system. We have tested our system many times, but as with any new system, unexpected things can happen. Please be sure to stay tuned to television, social media, and check the district website if you have any question regarding potential school schedule interruptions.
Thank you for staying weather aware and being ready for any change in the school day.

For nearly one month, Mulberry Fields Park once again transforms into a winter wonderland with a larger ice skating rink
An old-fashioned winter complete with ice skating, the aroma of a crackling fire and the spirit of everyone’s favorite season is returning to Zionsville this winter during the second annual Winterfest presented by Century 21 Scheetz. Winterfest will take place from December 9 through January 2, 2023 at Mulberry Fields Park (9645 Whitestown Road). New to Winterfest is an ice skating rink larger in size, food trucks and a maker’s market.
Throughout Winterfest, visitors can enjoy ice skating on real ice, food and drink, a holiday maker’s market, visits from Santa and his reindeer, park programming, sledding and more. A packed programming schedule of more than 45 events includes crafts, campfires and s’mores, themed skate events, Homeschool and Scout Days and more. All programs are free unless otherwise indicated.
“We are thrilled to bring back Winterfest and welcome visitors of all ages to skate under glowing lights on a larger ice skating rink,” said Parks Superintendent Jarod Logsdon. “Our team has been hard at work planning an event with a programming schedule to keep visitors coming back again and again.”
Visitors can purchase tickets in advance online or on-site at the event. Season tickets and exclusive ice rink rentals will be available for purchase online. Ice rink rental is $900 and includes exclusive use of the rink for 1.5 hours with a maximum occupancy of 120 people on the ice.
Free parking will be available at Mulberry Fields Park with additional spaces available at Zionsville United Church to the north and Zionsville Middle School to the south.
“With Winterfest, new traditions are created and our town shines – residents and visitors have an outdoor recreational opportunity and then explore the array of downtown shops and restaurants,” said Mayor Emily Styron. “I am grateful to our Parks and Recreation Department for bringing this wonderful experience to our community.”

Upcoming closure of the Big-4 Rail Trail
The Rail Trail widening and improvement project will begin in early 2023. The widening and improvement project will repair and widen the existing Rail Trail from Heritage Trail Park south to Starkey Avenue and create a uniform 12’ wide trail with a 2' soft shoulder on each side (for runners). Closures will be completed in two phases to allow use of segments of the trail throughout the project.
For Phase I, the Rail Trail will be closed from 875 E (Heritage Trail Park) to Whitestown Rd/Mulberry St (Mulberry St tunnel). Phase I will begin in early 2023.
As more detailed info is available, we will post schedule updates at www.zionsville-in.gov/666/Big-4-Rail-Trail-Extension.
The result of this project will be a vastly improved Rail Trail!
For any questions, please reach out to Parks Superintendent Jarod Logsdon.

A special thank you from the Zionsville Education Foundation (ZEF)

Thank you to our incredible community for your support of this year’s ZEF Bash! The event took place at the Golf Club of Indiana Cardinal Room on November 5th and it was a record-breaking year. ZEF’s annual fall event is truly a community effort and the money raised enables ZEF to fund innovative projects across the district in the coming year.
We are grateful for the support of so many that make ZEF Bash possible each year. Sponsors, volunteers, auction donors, bidders, and attendees come together to create a uniquely special evening in support of our schools.
Your generosity helps fulfill ZEF's mission to serve its school community by providing funds that promote academic excellence. So far in 2022, ZEF has awarded more than $146,000 in grants to ZCS educators.
