MARCH 18 FRIDAY FIVE

UNION SPOTLIGHT NIGHT
Spotlight Night is a special, themed PTO-sponsored event for Union students that only happens once every three years and is a celebration of learning! Students read to earn a ticket to attend. After students go home at the end of the school day, our dedicated parent/community volunteers transform the school into a top-secret world, and decorate from wall to wall. Students then return to school at their designated time to find a world of adventure, activities, games, and dancing awaiting them! This year's theme was travel, and students explored different parts of the world!

FOURTH ANNUAL DO-DAYS: ZCS LARGEST SERVICE EVENT TO DATE
Students, staff and families blanketed the Zionsville and Whitestown communities completing a number of service projects over the span of three days, March 10-12. The fourth annual Do-Days was our largest service event to date. Young people spent a few days working and volunteering around the community in service to others.
From packing meals to cleaning up parks and school grounds to writing cards to senior citizens and everything in between, students embraced the spirit of giving back.

ZIONSVILLE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL EAGLE ENTREPRENEURS LAUNCHED
This week the board of directors for Eagle Entrepreneurs, Inc. met with Jon Becker of law firm Church, Church, Hittle, and Antrim for the initial organizational meeting of a new ZCHS-based non-profit corporation.
Principal Tim East shared a brief history of the concept that has become Eagle Entrepreneurs, Inc. With the support of ZCS Superintendent Scott Robison, Zionsville Community High School was approached by the leadership team from the Ideal Food Group (Joe Stein, Chris Canal, and Isaac Hughes) to mentor students in ZCHS business classes and clubs to form and operate a non-profit business. Eagle Entrepreneurs was formed from this kernal with Ellie Hutz, Kylie Wallenius, Claire Shank, and Steven Schonlau as the first student leadership committee.
Dr. Nicole Chisley, ZCS Customized Learning Program Director, and high school business teachers Gil Speer and Braden Hall were present representing the leadership and staff of the ZCHS Business Department. Mr. Becker addressed the group and explained the process of incorporation to form the non-profit that will support the students’ entrepreneurial endeavors.
Gil Speer was nominated and elected President of the Board of Eagle Entrepreneurs. Tim East was elected Vice President and Regina May was elected Treasurer. After the organizational meeting was concluded, Mr. Becker charged the Eagle Entrepreneur student leaders with the task of setting up the initial website and social media accounts for Eagle Entrepreneurs.
Speaking for the student entrepreneurs, Claire Shank provided an overview of the mission of Eagle Entrepreneurs, Inc. Claire stated, “Our mission is to develop and operate a food distribution company. The proceeds from the company will be used to support scholarships for ZCHS students and needs based scholarships for students from other schools.” In anticipation of the formation of Eagle Entrepreneurs, the student leadership team has been preparing their business plan and looks forward to bringing a first product to market within the year.
The leadership teams at Ideal Food Group and Zionsville Community Schools are honored to be able to support these students and are excited to see the successes of this student directed enterprise.

EAGLE EXTRAVAGANZA
More than 1,500 Eagle family members attended the annual Eagle Extravaganza to raise money for the school's PTO. The auction event alone raised more than $18,000. This does not include ticket costs or concessions.
Students were excited when they realized that Police Sergeant Adam Harper, their school's police partner, was attending the event as the Zionsville Eagle!
It was a great night of fun. Thank you to the PTO and to all Eagle families who attended. We appreciate your ongoing support of Eagle Elementary.
